ROADSTER HORSES -

Horseographies
This is our first purebred Standardbred bred at Roadster. She is a foundation mare for preservation breeding of Colonial Heritage standardbreds. I can find 4 crosses of GLOBE DERBY (albeit a long way back) in her pedigree. The significance of this for me is the colonial heritage of this mare.
GLOBE DERBY ( By Mambrino Derby X Springheel) Foaled at Bathurst in September, 1910 and first known as Cyril C but later renamed, Globe Derby was destined to become the greatest colonial-bred trotting progenitor in the history of Australian trotting.
Globe Derby was bred by a man called James Rutherford who became the General manager of the highly successful mail and passenger transport company Cobb & Co. James Rutherford was responsible for expanding the company to great heights. Globe Derby was sold several times and was eventually owned by Edgar Tatlow who stood him at stud in Tasmania. Edgar Tatlow's father also ran a coaching business in Tasmania and Standardbred lines were incorporated into the coach horses. Globe Derby sired 308 individual winners, including many great racing sons who were champion sires themselves. Springfield Globe was just one of them.
SPRINGFIELD GLOBE (by Globe Derby X Ayr) Bred on the best bloodlines available in Australia in the 1930's. He was a famous pacer winning the Inter-Dominion Championship in 1939, Launceston Tasmania. One of Springfield Globe's best sons was Aachen.
AACHEN (by Springfield Globe X Connenora) A horse who creatd a record with an unbroken sequence of wins in his first 20 races. Aachen also became a prolific and successful sire when retired to a South Australian stud. He headed the sire's list several times in that state. He was a magnificent bay stallion who imparted his brilliance to his offspring and produced good beginners and reliable racehorses.
CLASSIC GARRY (Garry Rowan X Gay Acres) Foaled in Australia in 1978, was a top racehorse in Australia and later in the U.S. He was returned to Australia to become another of the leading sire's in his day, that being declared in 1997. Classic Gary has no imported blood since Gay Reveler (1949).
