ROADSTER HORSES

This site will interest you if you are looking for an alternative sport horse.

It is an interesting website looking at the origins and development of the "Roadster" type horse. The original Roadster was a "type" of Saddle Horse used in mid-eighteenth century England. They were sound animals, with hard limbs and good feet, possessing the ability to move about the English countryside with great speed and endurance. Not a breed as such, but a type of steed which travelled at trotting speeds of 25-27 km/h. (16-17mph).Man's desire to be the best led to trotting matches as early as 1710. These races have developed into the organized harness racing events that we see today all over the world. In the U.S.A. there are Roadster competition classes held for today's modern "Roadster", the AMERICAN STANDARDBRED.

We have been breeding our "Roadster" type horses since 2001.

The Starab is an Arabian crossed with a Standardbred horse. Our horses are derived from Arabian blood over good quality "saddle-type" Standardbred mares. The criteria for the mares -: Short-coupled backs and light framed riding type. Not off the track clumpers. they must stand at no higher than 15.2hh.

Some people are starting to call this type of cross the "STARAB"
